In a world full of chemical-heavy cosmetics and rushed five-minute skincare routines, real glow often comes from something far older. Ayurveda the science of life has practiced gentle, plant-based beauty rituals for centuries, long before "clean beauty" became a trend.
At Seeash Ayurveda, we believe genuine beauty starts with a healthy body and a calm mind. Ubtans and herbal home remedies are a simple way to bring that glow back, naturally.
⨠What is an Ayurvedic Ubtan?
An Ubtan is a traditional herbal paste, typically made from a combination of gram flour, sandalwood, turmeric, neem, rose petals, and a liquid base like milk, aloe vera, or floral water. It's not just a beauty product it's a ritual, one that gently detoxifies, nourishes, and revives the skin.
đź What Ubtans actually do for your skin
Brightens tone : Helps even out pigmentation and brings a natural radiance to the surface.
Exfoliates gently : Clears away dead skin cells without the harshness of synthetic scrubs.
Stays chemical-free : Safe across skin types since there's nothing synthetic in the mix.
Hydrates deeply : Locks in moisture and leaves skin noticeably softer.
Calms breakouts : Ingredients like neem and turmeric work against acne-causing bacteria.
Builds resilience : Strengthens the skin's natural defenses against everyday damage.
đ¸ Three Ubtan recipes worth trying at home
Glow-boosting bridal blend : Best for dull or tanned skin. Mix 2 tablespoons gram flour, a pinch of turmeric, and 1 tablespoon sandalwood powder with enough rose water to form a paste. Apply 15 minutes before bathing.
Neem and tulsi blend for acne-prone skin : Combine 1 tablespoon neem powder, 1 tablespoon tulsi powder, 2 tablespoons multani mitti, and 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel.
Hydrating almond and saffron blend for dry skin : Mix 1 tablespoon almond powder with a few saffron strands soaked in milk, plus 1 teaspoon honey.
Used two to three times a week, these blends tend to show visible results over time.
đ Everyday ingredients worth keeping close
Ayurveda leans on a handful of simple, proven ingredients for daily skincare: aloe vera for healing and moisture, raw milk as a gentle cleanser and toner, turmeric for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities, saffron to brighten complexion, and coconut or sesame oil for nourishing self-massage (Abhyanga).
Together, these help keep all three doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha in balance, supporting skin health from the inside as much as the outside.
đż Beauty as a daily practice, not a product
A few small shifts make a real difference over time: starting the day with warm herbal water, prioritizing real sleep for overnight skin repair, eating in step with the seasons, managing stress through movement or meditation, and steering clear of harsh synthetic beauty products.
Your skin tends to reflect how you're living choosing wellness daily shows up there too.
